Qatar to advance joint plan with Israel to fund Gaza for six months
The Qatari Ambassador to the United Nations Mohammed Al-Amadi, said that his country would continue to support the poor families in the Gaza Strip for six months at $15 million a month in grants, and another $10 million each month for fuel.
"We agreed with Israel to solve the electricity problem, complete the proposed 161 power-line and determine rights of sea passage," the Qatari diplomat said at a meeting with Palestinian faction leaders in Gaza, "We agreed with Israel on many things."
In contrast to the publications, al-Amadi claimed that, "The money transferred to the Gaza Strip was under the full supervision of the Qatari committee, and the money was not transferred to the UN." He further stressed that, "We are working with Israeli elements to complete the other issues concerning the Gaza Strip - including expanding fishing, establishing industrial zones, the seaport and the issue of electricity. We will continue to act on all issues."
