Quake dries up centuries-old Kumamoto water source ^
April 30, 2016
MINAMI-ASO, Kumamoto Prefecture--For hundreds of years, the sacred Shioisha spring here has provided water for drinking and irrigation in this village in the shadow of Mount Aso.
But the fountainhead, which gushed about five tons of spring water a minute, has dried up since the magnitude-7.3 earthquake struck the prefecture early on April 16. Its disappearance has local residents baffled.
According to Sachio Hirose, the 63-year-old parish representative, there are many fountainhead springs in Minami-Aso, which has been dubbed “the village where water is born.” However, Shioisha spring is the one that has been worshipped by local residents as the sacred spring where the "god of water" dwells.

Russian Fighter Jet Flies Within 50 Feet Of US Spy Plane Over Russian Naval Base ^
April 28, 2016
Tensions continue to escalate between the US and Russia. As a reminder, Russia conducted several close encounter fly-bys when first a Russian Su-24 "buzzed" the US missile destroyer USS Donald Cook in the Baltic Sea, and just days later flew within 50 feet of a US recon plane also flying over the Baltic Sea. The U.S. quickly responded and complained vocally to Russia, followed quickly by the first deployment of US F-22 stealth fighter to Romania, in close proximity to both the Black Sea and 400 km from the Russian military stronghold of Sevastopol on the Crimean Peninsula.
It now appears there was a third incident involving an extremely close encounter. According to the Free Beacon, a Russian MiG-31 jet flew within 50 feet of a U.S. surveillance aircraft in Northeast Asia last week, in what was dubbed "Moscow’s latest aerial saber-rattling" against American ships and planes by US defense officials..

April 29, 2016
In its latest attempt to instill fear far away from the battlefield in Syria, or the recently terrorism-plagued countries of France and Belgium, last week Islamic State supporters published the names and addresses of 3,600 New Yorkers in an apparent "hit list" designed to escalate the group's campaign of sowing fear far from the battlefield in Syria.
The list includes names, home addresses and email addresses. Some of the information appears to be outdated, according to the source, who was not authorized to discuss the investigation publicly. It was not immediately clear how IS supporters obtained the names and addresses on the list.

Confirmed: Nuclear Power Plant Infected With MULTIPLE Viruses ^
April 28, 2016
Earlier this week it was reported that a computer virus had been used to infect a German nuclear power plant. Following revelations that ISIS operatives targeted a nuclear plant in Belgium around the time of a coordinated suicide bomber attack that killed 31 people, Europe was on alert.
But that apparently wasn’t enough, as Reuters now confirms that it was, in fact, multiple viruses that compromised the German systems. But as Zero Hedge notes, Reuters was quick to point out that there “appeared” to be no danger to the public.

Suicide was unknown to them traditionally yet 140 Indigenous Canadians attempted to kill themselves in the last two weeks: 10-year-old Aboriginal girl takes her own life in Australia ^
March 11, 2016
Indigenous kids in Canada
Suicide was unknown to Aboriginal people traditionally and no word in their ancient language describes suicide. Yet, a 10-year-old Aboriginal girl has taken her own life in far north Western Australia, the youngest of 19 Indigenous people to kill themselves in remote areas of the state since December.
It's difficult to imagine how a young 10 year old child can see no future ahead of her and she is by no means the youngest Aboriginal to take her own life in Australia.
Canada it seems fears no better....
An indigenous community in Canada has asked the federal government for health support amid a rising suicide rate among its people over the past months. The Cross Lake Community appealed for federal aid on Thursday, a day after it declared a state of emergency over the increasing number of suicides among its 8,300 members. The appeal for aid comes as six people in the community have committed suicide in two months, while 140 others attempted to kill themselves in the last two weeks.
The same problem is also unfolding in New Zealand and of course native Americans.

Strikes Claimed by ISIS Shut Brussels and Shake European Security ^
March 22, 2016
Bombs packed with nails terrorized Brussels on Tuesday in the deadliest assault on the European heartland since the Islamic State’s attacks on Paris four months ago, hitting the airport and subway system in coordinated strikes that were also claimed by the militant extremist group.
The bombings paralyzed Brussels, the headquarters of the European Union and NATO, prompted international travel warnings to avoid Belgium and reverberated across the Atlantic to the United States, where New York and other major cities raised terrorism threat levels. Anxieties intensified about the inability to prevent mass killings at relatively unprotected places.
At least 30 people were killed by two blasts at the Brussels airport departure area around 8 a.m. and one in a subway station shortly after 9. The police found at least one other unexploded bomb in a search of a Brussels house hours later.

Wireless mice leave billions at risk of computer hack: cyber security firm ^
March 23, 2016
Marc Newlin and Balint Seeber are checking how far apart they can be while still being able to hack into each other’s computers. It turns out its pretty far – 180 meters – the length of a city block in San Francisco.
The pair work for Bastille, a startup cyber security company that has uncovered a flaw they say leaves millions of networks and billions of computers vulnerable to attack.
Wireless mice from companies like HP, Lenovo, Amazon and Dell use unencrypted signals to communicate with computers.
“They haven’t encrypted the mouse traffic, that makes it possible for the attacker to send unencrypted traffic to the dongle pretending to be a keyboard and have it result as keystrokes on your computer. This would be the same as if the attacker was sitting at your computer typing on the computer,” said Newlin, a security researcher at Bastille.
