Italy trembles: Over 200 aftershocks follow devastating earthquake
The danger of a major new jolt remains in Italy, as over 200 aftershocks were registered following a devastating 6.6 magnitude earthquake in central regions of the country. Sunday’s earthquake in central Italy was followed by numerous aftershocks, 15 of which had a magnitude ranging from 4.0 to 4.6, according to Italy’s National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV). ^
Congress: Attorney General Lynch ‘Pleads Fifth’ on Secret Iran ‘Ransom’ Payments
Loretta Lynch is declining to comply with an investigation by leading members of Congress about the Obama administration’s secret efforts to send Iran $1.7 billion in cash earlier this year, prompting accusations that Lynch has “pleaded the Fifth” Amendment to avoid incriminating herself over these payments, according to lawmakers and communications exclusively obtained by the Washington Free Beacon. Sen. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) and Rep. Mike Pompeo (R., Kan.) initially presented Lynch in October with a series of questions about how the cash payment to Iran was approved and delivered. ^

Julian Assange said Sunday that the next batch of hacked emails he plans to release will lead to the arrest of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Two days ago, the FBI reopened the investigation into her private server as Secretary of State, knocking her campaign sideways. After releasing 21 emails batches this month, Assange has more than 50,000 to go “ with enough evidence to see Hillary Clinton arrested.” ^

Found in the Altiplano-Puna Plateau - the second highest plateau on the planet - the dome stretches more than a kilometre high (3,280 feet), making it 172 metres taller than the world’s tallest building in Dubai. Researchers say this massive structure is the result of an injection of magma from below. ^
For First Time Ever, Jews Allowed to Pray on Temple Mount as Thousands Ascend for Holidays
In a not-so-subtle response to the recent UNESCO resolutions denying all connection between Jerusalem and the Jewish people, record-breaking numbers of Jews ascended to the Temple Mount over the three-week holiday period encompassing Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot – and in an incredible reversal of the usual status quo, some were even allowed to pray there. ^
Earthquake Rattles Rome, Shaking Historic Palazzi
A pair of strong aftershocks shook central Italy late Wednesday, crumbling churches and buildings, knocking out power and sending panicked residents into the rain-drenched streets just two months after a powerful earthquake killed nearly 300 people. The temblors were actually aftershocks to the Aug. 24 quake that struck a broad swath of central Italy, demolishing buildings in three towns and their hamlets, seismologists said. ^

In dramatic vote, UNESCO Jerusalem resolution passes with slim support

Pope Francis the manager - surprising, secretive, shrewd
One of the most striking differences between Francis and his two predecessors is that it is virtually impossible to determine who, if anyone, is really close to him. The personal secretaries of Benedict and John Paul - respectively Georg Ganswein, now an archbishop, and Stanislaw Dziwisz, now a cardinal - were always at their side and became celebrities in their own right, the powerful gate-keepers to get to the pope. By contrast, few people know the identities of Francis's two priest-secretaries - Father Fabian Pedacchio Leaniz from Argentina and Father Yoannis Lahzi Gaid, an Egyptian. Both have other part-time jobs in the Vatican and do not appear or travel with him. "He does not want any filters," said a person who knows the pope well. "Sometimes he will tell one of his secretaries 'so-and-so is arriving in a few minutes' and that is the first they hear of it. Sometimes he tells one without telling the other." ^
Russia unveils Satan missile II: Nuclear weapon 'capable of WIPING out TEXAS'
IMAGES have emerged of Vladimir Putin's largest-ever nuclear missile – said to be capable of obliterating a country the size of France – as the country prepares for war. According to Russian media, the chillingly powerful intercontinental ballistic missile could "erase from the face of the earth land plots the size of Texas". Worryingly, the missile has been designed with stealth technology which enables it to be fired at a target without being picked up by radar systems. ^
Russia irked by talk of US troops in Norway
22 October 2016 Russia expressed surprise Friday about the mooted deployment of US troops in neighbouring Norway. "Taking into account multiple statements made by Norwegian officials about the absence of threat from Russia to Norway, we would like to understand why Norway is so much willing to increase its military potential, in particular through the stationing of American forces in Vaernes," Maxime Gourov, the spokesman at the Russian embassy in Oslo said in an email sent to AFP. Vaernes lies about 1,000 kilometres (600 miles) from the Russian-Norwegian frontier. ^

Trump Unleashed Wrecking Balls on Hillary-Neocon Aleppo Fantasy
The third presidential debate showed that Donald Trump does not have the political finesse of Hillary Clinton. He does, however, possess the uncanny ability to say what everyone else is thinking at any given moment. I paraphrase the dialogue to save space.
Moderator to Trump: “How could you say in the last debate that the Battle in Aleppo is over?”
Trump: “Because it is! Just look at the pictures of the city. It is destroyed. If Assad and the Russians want to eliminate ISIS then let them.”
Millions of viewers nod their heads in unison. It makes sense. If ISIS is bad, then let the Russians kill them, duh! ^
This Is The Chinese Firm Whose Cameras Took Down The Internet On Friday
According to Bloomberg, Internet-connected CCTV cameras made by a Chinese firm, Hangzhou Xiongmai Technology Co., were infected with malware that allowed hackers to takeover "tens of millions" of devices to launch the distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.
A Chinese security camera maker said its products were used to launch a cyber-attack that severed internet access for millions of users, highlighting the threat posed by the global proliferation of connected devices. The attackers hijacked CCTV cameras made by Hangzhou Xiongmai Technology Co. using malware known as Mirai, the company said in an e-mailed statement. While Xiongmai didn’t say how many of its products had been infiltrated, all cameras made before September 2015 were potentially vulnerable. The attack, which took down sites including Twitter, Spotify and CNN for long stretches, underscored how hackers can marshal an increasing number of online gadgets, collectively known as the Internet of Things, to disrupt the internet on an unprecedented scale. ^

Belgian Forces Caught Bombing Civilian Village In Syria
An airstrike this Tuesday in the small Syrian village of Hassadjek left six civilians dead and injured four more. Though no Russian or Syrian forces were operating in the area, radar data has proven that two Belgian F-16 jets, working on behalf of the US-led coalition, were the only planes operating in the area at the time of the attack.
Russia has released evidence gathered from radar data that shows two Belgian jets flew from the Muwaffaq Salti airbase in Jordan and were immediately identified upon entering Syrian airspace, as all aircraft have a unique identifiable signature. The Belgian planes then carried out a night strike in the village, just two hours after take-off. After conducting the bombing, the planes refueled and continued patrolling around the city of Azaz in Northwestern Syria before leaving Syria and entering Iraq. ^

Russia and US are on BRINK OF WAR says Russian Lt General
RUSSIA has entered a new Cold War with the West that could lead to confrontations across the world, experts warn.President Vladimir Putin has challenged American international hegemony with threats to retaliate against the US if the Aleppo bombing’s sanctions go ahead. Military and foreign policy experts in Moscow believe Russian President Vladimir Putin and western leaders are headed for a dangerous stand-off. Lt Gen Evgeny Buzhinsky, head of the think tank PIR centre, said: “If we talk about the last Cold War, we are currently somewhere between the erection of the Berlin Wall and the Cuban Missile crisis.”
The former head of the Russian ministry of defence’s international treaties department added: “In other words, teetering on the brink of war, but without the mechanisms to manage the confrontation.” Russian officials have accused the US of trying to severe relations between Russia and the west. In response to the Russian bombing of Aleppo, the US has proposed sanctions that could harm Russian economy. ^

‘Deadliest yet’: San Francisco-area quake faults found to be connected, massive destruction looms
Warnings from beneath California are getting grimmer with each passing geological study. A previously unseen fault line has been spotted, doubling the length of existing faults and threatening an even more colossal quake.Upping the ante this week was the troubling discovery of a hidden ‘bridge’ between two volatile fault zones – Rodgers Creek and the Hayward fault – outlined on Thursday in the journal Science Advances. Together they stretch 115 miles (185km), from wine country in the northwest, down to Oakland, terminating just north of San Jose. They pose a big enough danger when unconnected. But this newly discovered connection effectively means they’re a single fault now. This threatens to produce a ‘rubber-band effect’ twice the magnitude when the fault eventually ruptures.
“Because the longer a fault stretches, the bigger the earthquake it can produce. And here we've just doubled the length of this fault,” explains David Ponce, a geologist with the research group, speaking to Popular Mechanics. According to Ponce, the combined fault zones “constitute one of the most dangerous earthquake risks in the nation.” ^
Massive Cyberattack Hits America – Will Russia Take Down The Entire Internet If We Go To War?We just learned a very important lesson about how exceedingly vulnerable our Internet truly is. Washington Apparently Seeks to 'Fully Destroy' US-Russia Relations
On Friday, White House spokesperson Josh Earnest said that the United States and its partners would continue to discuss economic sanctions against Russia over the situation in Syria.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said Saturday that Moscow will find a way to respond to possible introduction of new sanctions by the United States against Russia. “In case of the extension of US sanctions lists amid mostly senseless and unreasonable reasons – we will find a way to respond so that the balance will change, and it is not going to be for the US benefit,” Ryabkov told RIA Novosti. Ryabkov added also that it seemed like the United States wanted to fully destroy bilateral relations with Russia by making such statements. ^

BREAKING:Russia Orders Moscow World Cup Stadium to Immediately Convert to Wartime Bomb Shelter
Oct 18, 2016 Managers of the Zenit Arena, a giant half-built stadium in St. Petersburg, received an official letter from the Ministry of Emergency Situations last week demanding that they immediately create shelter facilities for wartime. The stadium, under construction for the upcoming World Cup 2018, is located outside the city boundaries, the letter said, but in case of nuclear attack it is in the potential “zone of war destruction and radiation fallout. The last time Russians heard authorities talk like this about a potential mobilization for a nuclear strike was 20 years ago, and it all seemed highly improbable. Now, it appears, the Kremlin is not joking. Up to 40 million people participated in recent civil-defense exercises all across the country, learning about how to hide and where exactly to run to in case of a nuclear war. ^
Microwaves, Wi-Fi, and other EMF signals linked to headaches, fatigue, depression, anxiety, and more
Tuesday, October 18 (NaturalNews) The plethora of "smart" devices on the market today is making life more convenient and communications more streamlined. But some of the latest research hitting the science journals suggests that these everyday consumer products -- everything from ordinary microwave ovens and smartphones to advanced Wi-Fi routers and radioactive "smart" meters -- are systematically destroying human health. Migraine headaches, chronic fatigue, depression, anxiety, and among the many common maladies that are being increasingly linked to these technologies, which bombard the body with radioactive frequencies recognized for upsetting the body's biological rhythm. Some studies show that electromagnetic frequencies (EMFs) can depolarize the membranes that protect nerve and muscle tissue, damaging cells and facilitating the extended life-cycle of oxidizing free radicals. ^
Ukraine's Civil War Threatens to Expand to Directly Involve NATO, Russia
Officials from Ukraine's breakaway Donetsk People's Republic have stated publicly that Sunday's killing of militia commander Arseny Pavlov was a declaration of war by Kiev. On Sunday, Arseny Pavlov (aka Motorola), commander of the DPR militia's Sparta Battalion, was killed in an explosion in his home. Officials from the self-proclaimed republic quickly pointed the finger at Kiev for the commander's death, citing repeated threats and attempts against Pavlov's life by Ukrainian forces. DPR leader Alexander Zakharchenko stated bluntly that the attack constituted a violation of the ceasefire, and an effective declaration of war. ^

Countries Reach Landmark Deal to Limit Global Warming From Air Conditioners
More than 170 countries agreed early Saturday morning to limit emissions of key climate change-causing pollutants found in air conditioners, a significant step in the international effort to keep global warming from reaching catastrophic levels.
Total global HFC emissions—most commonly from air conditioners and refrigerators—are far less significant contributors to climate change than the aggregate emission of other greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane. But HFCs are thousands of times more potent than carbon dioxide on a pound-per-pound basis, making them an obvious target for international efforts to combat climate change. ^

UNESCO Director-General criticizes 'harmful' drive to erase Jewish ties to Temple Mount
UNESCO’s Director-General Irina Bokova spoke out Friday in support of Israel and against the 24-6 vote of her organization’s Executive Board took the day before to approve a resolution that spoke of the Temple Mount and its Western Wall as a purely Muslim religious site. “Jerusalem is the sacred city of the three monotheistic religions - Judaism, Christianity and Islam." “To deny, conceal or erase any of the Jewish, Christian or Muslim traditions undermines the integrity of the site, and runs counter to the reasons that justified its inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage list [in 1981],” she stated on Friday. ^
Bokovo has been outspoken on this issue since the Palestinians began their drive in 2015 to change the language by which UNESCO references that holy site. Previously, all resolutions on Jerusalem had spoken of the area with references to the Jewish term the Temple Mount and the Muslim name of Al-Haram Al-Sharif (the Noble Sanctuary). For the last year, the Palestinians have submitted resolutions that almost solely use the Muslim term of Al-Haram Al-Sharif and reference the Western Wall by its Muslim name of the Buraq Plaza. ^

World War 3? Barack Obama Could Take A Major Step Toward War With Russia On Friday
Because the mainstream media is devoting almost all of their time and energy to covering the Trump and Clinton campaigns, most Americans don’t realize that the Obama administration is bringing us perilously close to war with Russia. On Friday, Barack Obama is going to sit down with his foreign policy team and discuss “military options” in Syria.
The options under consideration include direct strikes “on Syrian military bases”. Russia has already pledged to respond militarily to any direct strikes on Syrian forces, and so the decisions that Barack Obama makes regarding Syria on Friday could literally be the spark that sets off World War 3. ^

Today's Nukes Are Thousands of Times More Powerful Than WWII A-Bombs
The atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of World War II—codenamed "Little Boy" and "Fat Man," respectively—caused widespread destruction, leveled cities, and killed between 90,000 and 166,000 people in Hiroshima (about 20,000 of which were soldiers), and between 39,000 and 80,000 in Nagasaki. India and Pakistan Teeter on the Brink of War: Bellicosity Encouraged by Washington…
Four days after India conducted “surgical” military strikes inside Pakistan-held Kashmir, South Asia’s rival nuclear-armed states continue to teeter on the brink of war. There have been hours-long artillery and gun-fire exchanges across the Line of Control (LoC) that separates Indian- and Pakistani-held Kashmir each night since India sent troops and helicopters into Pakistan and inflicted “double-digit” casualties. Late Sunday evening, India claimed that an army camp in Barmulla in the Kashmir Valley had come under terrorist attack and that at least one Indian solider had been killed and one injured. India has repeatedly held Pakistan responsible for terrorist acts on its soil, most recently for the September 18 attack that anti-Indian Islamist militants mounted on the Uri military base in Jammu and Kashmir.
In anticipation of a possible Pakistani army counter-strike, or so as to facilitate their own war preparations, Indian authorities have ordered the evacuation of tens of thousands of people living near the border with Pakistan in the Indian states of Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. According to Indian press reports, soldiers at garrisons near the border have also been instructed to send their families home. ^
