August 2014 – CHILE - A magnitude-6.4 earthquake shook the region near the Chilean port city of Valparaiso on Saturday evening.
The centre of the quake, which was also felt in the capital city of Santiago, was 37 kilometers north of Valparaiso at a depth of approximately 40 kilometers, according to the seismological institute at the University of Chile.
There were no early reports of damage, though some areas lost electricity. The ministry of the interior said there was no danger of a tsunami.
